Linder Farms

One of my favorite traditions in fall is to go to linder farms to get our pumpkins. My dad got some good pics so I thought I would share.  And for those wondering...we were there 11 days before Isaac was born.

One of those moms...

That's right...I have become one of those moms. I bought the boys their first ever coordinating outfits (and I even got them matching shirts for Thanksgiving). Oh I had so much fun picking these outfits out. I decided not to do 100% matching because I still have flash backs of my childhood LOL. (that was for you mom). And I did want them to be different a little. The only difference between the outfits is the vests. Otherwise they are the same. AND...I even went overboard and got matching socks. I know...I know...a bit unnecessary. But if Isaac wasn't wearing diapers I would have gotten them matching underwear too. I mean it was the first time I could do this.  Here are my handsome boys in their new church outfits:

2 weeks

Isaac is two weeks old already and is growing so fast.

  • 10 lbs 2 oz (90th percentile)
  • 23 inches long (97th percentile)
  • Went to church for the first time on 11/6
  • First trip to the mall was on 11/6 (he slept the whole time)
  • Very good eater.
  • Favorite sleeping position is on his tummy on your chest. Preferably mine, but Jons will due if he is already asleep LOL.
  • Loves to fall asleep on me. If he is ready to lay down he fusses until I am the one holding him and then he just lays his head down and goes to sleep. It's so sweet.
  • Still sleeps in our room at night, but usually takes his nap in his crib now since it's a lot quieter in there.
  • Visited my work and my mom's work....of course he was a hit. :0
  • Makes very funny facial expressions.
  • Eats every 3 hours during the day and usually every 3.5 hours at night.
  • Grunts when he is done eating. It's very funny...but hard to video while I am feeding him.
  • Ethan still thinks he is the greatest thing ever!

Hanging in his swing...
    Chilling on Mommy....
    Bath time....
    First nap in his crib...
    Ready for Church...
I love all of his little facial expressions....
    Brothers....
    Watching football with daddy...(sideways apparently)

We sure are blessed to have this little guy (or little dude as Ethan calls him)

Halloween Fun

Every year Jon's work has a Halloween party for employees and their families. People set candy outside of their cube for the kids, they have fun little games for the kids to play, a craft of some sort, and yummy treats like popcorn, cookies and drinks. This year we went mostly for Ethan. Isaac was 6 days old and Ethan was tired of being in the house...so we all ventured out. It was fun and I know Ethan had fun showing everyone Isaac.

On Halloween Jon took Ethan to a trunk or treat at our friends church which he enjoyed a lot. I think it was important for him to do something fun with just him and Jon for a few hours. Plus his friend Bryson was there and that was "awesome" according to Ethan.

Here is Isaac and I....Isaac was 6 days old.

Isaac Jonathan Thomas

I am very happy to say that Isaac Jonathan Thomas is here! He was born on 10-22-2010 at 11:44 pm. Isaac weighed in at 9lbs 10 oz and is 22 inches long.  He was a big boy.

The delivery went great. I started having contractions a few days before and actually went to the maternity center to be checked out. My midwife wasn't on call so I just saw the on call Dr. She didn't think I was progressing fast enough so she sent us home. Luckily we had a dr. apt the very next day. When I went in I was 5cm and my midwife didn't seem to happy they sent me home. She believed that my uterus was so large because of the amount of fluid and based on how I measured that my body physically couldn't produce stronger contractions. The fibers couldn't connect to produce stronger contractions. The ones I was having for two days were as strong as they could get. So she sent us over to the hospital so she could break my water.

As my midwife predicted (she actually sent me to an MD who said I didn't have to much fluid) I had a lot of fluid. And when I say a lot...I mean a lot. Basically she had to jump out of the way LOL and that happened 4 times. Once they broke my water they started me on pitocin to get the contractions stronger and 5.5 hours later Isaac was here. It was a good delivery and I only pushed for 30 mins (very proud of that BTW). As my midwife was thinking...he was a little on the big size (and that same MD said he wasn't very big and maybe 8lbs).  I did loose a lot of blood a few hours after delivery. They estimated about 2 liters of blood. (a non-pregnant adult has on average 5 liters of blood if you didn't know). That resulted in me coming as close to passing out as you can get (had to use smelling salts)....twice. Luckily my bleeding was gotten under control and the rest of our stay was uneventful.

Isaac was perfectly healthy after delivery. His blood sugars were low (common in large babies) for the first few hours of his life so those were closely monitored...luckily they stabilized. He has the most perfect baby complexion I have ever seen. I think it was all the fluid LOL.

Isaac is so perfect in every way and we are so blessed to have him in our family. I am a very lucky girl with 3 boys who I love so so much!

Isaac is officially one week old now. These are just a few things I want to remember from his first weeks:

  • Had first dr. apt and weighed 9lbs 2 oz.
  • Love loves loves to sleep with mommy and to cuddle
  • Had days and nights mixed up (I think we might have that fixed...yay)
  • Eats a lot! Had to supplement for the first couple days until I could catch up. He is a great nurser so far
  • Grew out of newborn diapers
  • Umbilical Cord fell off on day 8
  • Very much loved by his big brother
  • Went to target for the first time
  • Celebrated his first Halloween
  • Went to daddy's work for a Halloween party with Ethan
And now, what I know you all really want...pictures :)

Turn your head tot the left to look at this picture. For some reason blogger is forcing it this way. :(

Well....I am off to feed the baby again!!

Routine??

We had a routine...but that went out the window this week. This is my first week at home without working, and coincidentally Jon is also home this week. He is working from home until I have the baby. It's so nice to have him here just in case. And Ethan loves that he can walk into the back room and talk to Jon. Today we all three slept until 845 am. WHOOPS. But it was so nice. I don't really sleep good at night anymore, I pretty much get up every 2 hours, so the extra time was nice.

I am not worried about our lack of a routine, it will all change again in a few days (hopefully LOL) so I figure while we are still a family of three we will enjoy the flexibility and stay up late and sleep in and just have fun!

Since I mentioned Jon was working from home I have a funny story from the first day. Jon came downstairs in his boxers and said he was off to work. (work is in the back room). Ethan looked at him and said, "but daddy you only have your underwear on! You are missing your pants and shirt." hehe. nothing gets by this kid. It was pretty funny. So Jon still has to get dressed before he can go to work. :)

Well, the counter on my blog says 6 days. I wish he would come sooner than that because my sister Cindy is only here until Friday. But I know he will come when he is ready. I learned that lesson the hard way with Ethan.

I am off to make some rice crispy treats with my favorite 3 year old! Happy labor thoughts everyone. I did do my hair this morning and shave my legs LOL. So today would be a good day. ;)

Boys and some randomness

Boys are so much fun! I can't wait to have two of them running around this house.

I love that when I take a shower my bath is full of toys that I have to move around.

I think it's funny that all the cars and trucks have to be out at the same time

I love that instead of blankets and dolls when he goes to bed he sleeps with trucks and cars.

I love that somehow he thinks cleaning off in the kitchen sick is the best thing ever LOL. We were painting today and he got paint on his feet so I set him on the counter with his feet in the sink. Next thing I knew his UW was off and he was "warming up" in the sink. LOL. I just about died laughing when he asked if I could sit in the other side of the sink with him.

And now for the randomness part....

Ethan loved it when we painted the nursery. He loves helping with projects..especially when Bapa is helping with them. He is a Bapa's boy for sure. Loves cars, trucks and helping Bapa with anything. I think Bapa will be teaching Ethan a lot. When we were doing the nursery Ethan learned to paint:

You missed a spot Bapa. :)

AND...lastly...here is me this weekend before Jon and I went to dinner. This is 37 weeks and 4 days. It was nice to enjoy a few hours just with us. It will be a while before we do that again I think. Thanks mom and dad for watching E.
